Milemead Lakes Rules
General Rules
The fishery is open to anglers from 7am until dusk, unless pre-booked for 24 hour fishing.
Permits should be booked in advance by calling 01822 61088 between 9am and 5pm. Alternatively, anglers wishing to pay on the day may do so subject to availability, however they must not set up prior to purchasing a permit from the shop.
The shop is open from 9am each morning.
- To avoid the risk of transferring any fish diseases or parasites please ensure that all nets, slings and unhooking mats are completely dry before arrival at our lakes.
- Cars to be parked in designated car parking areas only. No cars to be driven on or offsite after dark and before 7am unless pre arranged or in an emergency
- No litter. Use a bin or take it home.
- Anglers must fish from constructed pegs only.
- Barbless hooks must be used unless stated in specific lake rules. Single hook set ups only.
- All rigs must be fish safe, with all leads, feeders or floats attached in a suitable way to ensure that they cannot tether a fish. IF YOU ARE UNSURE ON THIS PLEASE ASK IN THE SHOP.
- Braid only to be used in rigs, not as a mainline.
- A suitable landing net and padded mat (where appropriate) must be used at all times.
- All fish to be returned safely to the same lake as caught.
- All baits used are expected to be suitably prepared and safe for fish to eat. No artificial baits bigger than a grain of sweetcorn to be used.
- Surface baits can be used but must be freelined. No bubble floats or controller floats to be used.
- 2 rod limit unless specified otherwise – see specific lake rules. Rods must never be left unattended.
- No keepnets (except Canal / Basin) unless in approved matches.
- No excessive noise or anti-social behaviour.
- Please ensure that bbqs, stoves and kettles do not cause any damage to the pegs or grass.
- Well behaved dogs are welcome – please clean up after them.
- No drones to be flown on-site.
- No fly fishing allowed unless you have booked a lake exclusively.
- Under 16’s are welcome on most lakes – see specific lake rules.
- An Environment Agency rod license is required.
- All persons entering Milemead do so entirely at their own risk. The owners accept no liability for any injury to persons, or damage to vehicles or property how ever caused.

Carp & Silvers Lake
- Anglers may use 2 rods.
- Maximum hook size 6.
- 22″ minimum landing net required and padded mat preferred (unless unhooking fish match style)
- Under 12’s must be accompanied by an adult
Canal & Basin
- Anglers may use 2 rods.
- Float fishing only.
- Maximum hook size 10.
- 18″ minimum landing net required and padded mat preferred (unless unhooking fish match style).
- Keepnets allowed. Fish to be retained for 6hrs maximum.
- Under 12s must be accompanied by an adult.
Cat & Carp Lake
- Anglers may use 2 rods.
- Maximum hook size 4.
- Minimum line strength 15lbs.
- 42″ minimum landing net, large padded mat and rigid framed weigh sling required.
- Bait boats allowed.
- No live baiting except maggot, worm or leeches.
- Dead baits may be used but must be purchased from our shop, not caught from the lake.
- Accompanied under 16s may fish this lake only by prior arrangement and subject to experience and behaviour.
Specimen Carp Lake
- Anglers may use 3 rods.
- Maximum hook size 4. Microbarbs allowed on this lake as it can be weedy.
- Minimum line strength 15lbs.
- 42″ minimum landing net, large padded mat and rigid frame weigh sling required.
- Bait boat use allowed.
- Accompanied under 16s may fish this lake only by prior arrangement and subject to experience and behaviour.
Boat Lake
- Maximum of 3 rods per angler and 6 rod total for the lake.
- Maximum hook size 2. Microbarbs allowed on this lake as it can be weedy.
- Minimum line strength 20lbs.
- 42″ minimum landing net, large padded mat and rigid frame weigh sling required.
- A 60″ net, very large mat, weigh tripod and XL sling are provided for this lake and must be used to handle all Cats.
- Bait boat use allowed.
- No casting in peg 1. Anglers must use a bait boat or baiting pole to position bait.
- Accompanied under 16s may fish this lake only by prior arrangement and subject to experience and behaviour.
